This week Auburndale Builders hosted the first education training seminar at its soon to be completed "Studio for High-Performance Design and Construction." This facility dedicated to furthering the knowledge of architects, builders, and home buyers will begin formal classes in October 2017.
Craig Buckley is very passionate about his work and is always expanding his construction experience from concrete forming, framing, and finish carpentry to the level of Lead Carpenter and Project Manager. Most recently he completed the Passive House Institute of the United States (PHIUS) Builders Certification, adding his credentials to the team at Auburndale Builders High-Performance group.
He is currently the Project Manager and Lead Carpenter on a Passive Retrofit of the Auburndale Builders new office facility. Passive Retrofits will be key to reusing existing structures. Being able to take an existing structure and reuse it as an energy conservation project is a step towards his ambitions.
Craig's completed the PHIUS+ Builders Certification Program which is the leading passive building certification program in North America. It is the only passive building certification that combines a thorough passive house design verification protocol with a stringent Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program.
Remodeling buildings has been practiced for a long time, and there has been much debate about the benefits and environmental impacts of reusing old structures versus demolishing them and building new.
